In May 2014, Media Industries, a new peer-reviewed, multi-media, open-access online journal, will begin accepting submissions for our first issue, scheduled for publication in Winter 2014-2015. This new journal supports critical studies of media industries and institutions worldwide.
We invite contributions that range across the full spectrum of media industries, including: film, television, internet, radio, music, publishing, electronic games, advertising, and mobile communications. Submissions may explore these industries individually or examine inter-medial relations between industrial sectors through such cross-cutting issues as practice, policy, ownership, convergence, and beyond. We encourage both contemporary and historical studies, and are especially interested in contributions that draw attention to global and international perspectives. Media Industries is furthermore committed to the exploration of innovative methodologies, imaginative theoretical approaches, and new research directions.
Submissions should be between 5000 and 7000 words and conform to the Chicago Manual of Style note and bibliography system (16th ed.). Contributors are encouraged to employ the online format creatively by incorporating audiovisual materials and hyperlinks within their articles.
